From Apprentice to Expert: Sabrina Räthel’s 23-Year Journey with HAVI
In our ongoing “My HAVI Story” series, we shine a spotlight on the long-serving team members who have shaped HAVI with their dedication, talent, and heart. Today, we are proud to share the journey of Sabrina Raethel, Administrator Insurance at HAVI Germany, whose nearly 23-year career is a testament to passion, adaptability, and growth.
A Glimpse Into Sabrina’s World
At 40 years old, Sabrina lives in Dinslaken with her husband Christoph and their energetic six-year-old daughter, affectionately nicknamed her “little Monster.” Family life is lively, and with thoughts of adding a dog to the household – it’s clear that joy, humour, and warmth are constants in Sabrina’s life. “We’re already preparing for elementary school,” she laughs, “although I think I’m more nervous than my daughter!”
The Role That Keeps Evolving
Today, Sabrina runs the end-to-end insurance claims process for truck, liability, and transport damages across Germany. Her responsibilities include everything from incident reporting to final settlement, in close collaboration with insurers, brokers, internal teams, and clients.
But her work doesn’t stop there. Sabrina also manages cross-market insurance operations—reviewing premiums, reconciling accounts, managing budgets, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. “Many people might think insurance is dull,” she says, “but at HAVI, it’s anything but. The complexity and cross-country coordination make the role both dynamic and fulfilling.”
A Journey That Spans Departments and Decades
Sabrina’s story with HAVI began on August 15, 2002, when she started her apprenticeship as an Office Communications Clerk. Her curiosity and creativity quickly opened new doors. She was soon invited to support various departments, including organizing corporate events. The experience was so positive, a role was created for her to complete her apprenticeship within the team.
From there, her journey unfolded in exciting directions: Personal Assistant to the Director of Infrastructure, Project Assistant in Project Management, and while balancing work and study, she earned a degree in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources and IT.
After completing her degree, Sabrina moved into People & Communications at HAVI, where she continued after returning from parental leave. In addition to the regular HR tasks, her work included collaborating with the Works Council and overseeing one of the Distribution Centers. Then came an unexpected pivot: a position in the Insurance department—an entirely new field for Sabrina, but one she embraced with her energy and curiosity.
Growing with HAVI
“I’m most proud of how I’ve grown with HAVI—both professionally and personally,” Sabrina reflects. “From apprentice to multiple departments, each role has challenged me and helped me evolve. I’ve been lucky to work with incredible teams and build relationships that made every chapter memorable.”
What stands out most in her HAVI experience? “The opportunity for growth,” she says. “I’ve always felt supported to learn something new, take on different roles, and expand my skills. HAVI trusts its people, and that trust is empowering.”
Passion Beyond the Office
Outside of work, Sabrina finds joy in crafting and sewing. Her newest hobby—involving a plotting cutting machine—lets her create personalized gifts, decorations, and DIY projects. “It’s the perfect mix of creativity and relaxation,” she says. “I love turning an idea into something real.”
